Fieldwork: July–August 2026 – Islamabad and Lahore

Overview

In July and August 2026, I went to Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi to continue my fieldwork on aid accountability in Pakistan. This round of fieldwork centered primarily on semi-structured interviews with aid practitioners and officials at the UNDP, USAID, and IMF, as well as journalists who report on foreign aid, development, and economic policy. This fieldwork also placed greater emphasis on public outreach. I discussed foreign aid in Pakistan through a podcast, spoke at a South-South Cooperation Summit, and gave a talk to college students at Quaid-i-Azam University. These activities allowed me to connect academic research with broader public conversations about international development and cooperation.
